Lamoine Consolidated School Visit -- April 27th 2011
Staff and students from Lamoine Consolidated School in Lamoine, ME will visit The Jackson Laboratory in Bar Harbor
Elementary Schools Robotic Competition-- April 8th 2011
A district wide robotics meet on Friday April 8 in Northeast Harbor! MWIES's Chair , Lucie Hutchins, was the keynote speaker at the event
Harrison Middle School in Yarmouth girls ranked 6th at the Global Robotics competion
The girls placed 6th out of 59 teams for their challenge at the middle school level
at the global DI competition ! The only Maine team to finish in the top 10.
In total about 1,031 teams from around the world competed at the event across the 6 challenges.
We are all very proud of their accomplishment and grateful for your support
in helping them get there!

Our Mission
WIE is dedicated to facilitating the development of programs and activities that promote the entry into and the retention of women in engineering,science and mathematics related programs, enhance the career advancement of women in the profession, and promote IEEE membership and retention of IEEE women members.
Our Goals
- Promote Math and Science in Maine Junior High and High Schools in order to encourage girls to careers in mathematics, science, and engineering
- Increase Maine girls enrollment in Engineering,Mathematics, and Science programs
- Plan joint networking programs/events with other women professional societies in Maine.
- Provide women engineers/scientists as speakers and/or as mentors about careers in engineering and science.
- Encourage women engineers/scientists to participate in IEEE governance.
- Increase women engineers/scientists attendance at IEEE sponsored meetings and conferences.
